A Fatal Four Way match for the Intercontinental Championship will take place on the May 21st edition of SmackDown. Champion Apollo Crews will defend his title against challengers Big E, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.
Crews was in the ring with Commander Azeez on the May 14th episode of SmackDown, where Azeez was going to be presented with the Nigerian Medal of Honor. Big E, Zayn and Owens all interrupted the presentation and a brawl ensued:
Later in the show, Apollo complained to WWE official Adam Pearce about how the ceremony did not go as planned. As a result, Pearce booked the Fatal Four match for the following week:
Apollo Crews won the Intercontinental Championship from Big E at WrestleMania in a Nigerian Drum Fight. This match was also where Commander Azeez made his debut by helping Crews capture the title.
It should be noted that this match has been announced for SmackDown at not for the upcoming WrestleMania Backlash event. Here is the current card for the May 16th show.
