The iconic bout between Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant from WrestleMania III will be honoured at the WWE Hall of Fame next month.
WWE announced on March 31 that the match between the 2 Hall of Famers will be recognised as the second-ever Immortal Moment as part of the Hall of Fame class of 2026.
Headlining the Show of Shows in 1987, the legendary clash between Hogan and Andre remains one of the most famous matches in pro wrestling history almost 4 decades on from when it took place. While the attendance has since been disputed, WWE claims that more than 93,000 people were in the SilverDome in Pontiac, Michigan, to witness the slam heard around the world live.
The 12-minute bout saw Hogan finally slam Andre, leading to him retaining the WWF Championship. The slam has remained a part of WWE history since, and is regularly used in video packages when looking back at WrestleMania or pro wrestling history in general.
No update has been provided on who will be on stage to accept the honour in Las Vegas at the ceremony on April 17. Andre passed away in 1993, while Hogan died in 2025.
The announcement will likely round out the 2026 class, which will see Stephanie McMahon, AJ Styles, Demolition, Dennis Rodman, Sid and Bad News Brown all honoured. Sid and Brown will be inducted posthumously.
Hulk Hogan And Andre The Giant To Be Honoured With Immortal Moment Award
The Immortal Moment Award was first introduced in 2025 to give recognition to some of the most important matches of professional wrestling history. The inaugural award saw the classic match between Steve Austin and Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13 honoured, with both men appearing live to accept the award.
