WWE Clash At The Castle has seen strong ticket sales despite anger from UK fans.
With WWE returning to the UK once again later in the year with a Premium Live Event in Glasgow, Scotland, fans were very excited at first at the prospect of another show in the United Kingdom. However, when tickets went on sale for the two-night combo for the PLE and SmackDown the night before and started at £175 and continued to rise into the thousands, the overwhelming consensus was that ticket prices were far too high.
With many choosing to skip the doubleheader and holding out hope to just attend Clash at the Castle and not the go-home SmackDown, there was another deflated feeling among UK fans when the cheapest tickets started at around £100 and once again went up to the cost equivalent to a one week holiday. With WWE stating that Backlash in Lyon was the highest-grossing arena event in company history, fans online have felt that they are going too far with the prices and are being shut out of an opportunity to go, especially if they are a family and have to factor in travel, accommodation and other expenses. However, while some are upset, WWE may break their existing record in June.
Although there has been pushback from fans, the numbers are still positive in terms of demand for the event. WrestleTix is reporting that 9,809 tickets have been sold for the show itself and 1,310 are remaining. The show is currently set up for 11,119 fans but as always more sections could be opened up if the arena can be altered with staging reduced even further. 9,073 tickets have been sold for the SmackDown taping the night before:
