Alicia Taylor has announced her final night on WWE NXT.
In the latest shuffling of on-air personalities, Taylor will be the announcer for SmackDown moving forward as she joins many NXT stars who have recently been called up to the main roster.
In a backstage video after the May 7th episode of NXT went off the air, Shawn Michaels made the announcement that Taylor would be appearing on Friday nights and praised Taylor as “much deserving” in her new role. The new SmackDown announcer was also presented with her own NXT title as those in attendance applauded.

With Samantha Irvin announcing on Raw and Alicia Taylor announcing on SmackDown, this is a historic move as it is the first time that two black women have been ring announcers for main roster WWE programming.
Fightful Select reported the move ahead of it being made official, adding that former SmackDown announcer Mike Rome would be announcing matches on NXT moving forward.
Who Is Alicia Taylor?
A talented drummer as well as a talented ring announcer, Taylor has previously played drums for the likes of Kelly Osbourne and Miley Cyrus. Signing with WWE in 2018, Taylor began as the host of the post-show before being made ring announcer in 2019.
