A veteran in the professional wrestling world has stated that they are not exactly thrilled with the upcoming Netflix series WWE: Unreal.
The upcoming behind-the-scenes series is set to premiere later in the month and is promising wrestling fans a peek behind the curtain like never before, with footage from the writers’ room and backstage conversations set to be aired.
Capitalising on the popularity of the hit F1 Netflix series Drive To Survive, the announcement of WWE: Unreal has divided fans on whether the series should have been made in the first place. While on one hand, the argument is that everyone knows that wrestling is pre-determined, the more traditionalist fans still believe that the show could be a step too far. For Hall of Famer Jake Roberts, the veteran falls into the latter camp.
Speaking about the series on his podcast The Snake Pit, Roberts first gave his honest thoughts on the company looking to make a profit off of as much as possible:
“Oh well, they’ve done everything else, and made money with it. They might as well do that too.”
Later in the interview, Roberts admitted that the show was not a wise idea, believing that it would do more harm than good:
“I think it’s foolish,” Roberts said. “I don’t think that product will ever warrant enough money being made for the damage that it’ll do. So that’s just my own thoughts.”
