Alex Bliss Details How WWE Return Came Together

Alexa Bliss has looked back on the series of events that led to her surprise WWE return.

After more than 2 years away, Alexa Bliss made her return to the ring as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble match. Receiving one of the biggest pops of the whole night, it was clear that fans missed the former Women’s Champion. However, days before the show, reports circulated that Bliss may not be making her return anytime soon as there were contract disputes.

A few days after the Royal Rumble, it was reported by Fightful Select that the return came together very quickly and that Bliss signed the contract the day of the show. While appearing on The Nikki & Brie Show, Bliss stated that she did receive the call the night before, resulting in a mad scramble:

“I got the call at like, midnight the night before,” Bliss stated. “It wasn’t fully decided until like 4am and I get a call at five. They’re like, ‘Alright, we need you on a plane by 10am.’”

“I’m in my house at 3am… trying not to wake up the baby, because my gear is in, like, next to her closet,” she recalled. “And I’m like, looking through old gear, being like, ‘Alright, what could still fit me?’ No one knew I was there, not even, you know, the girls didn’t know I was there until I was in gorilla. No one. No one knew.”

Continuing,  Bliss stated that after flying into a different city to avoid being spotted, the former Women’s Champion stated that she was “deliriously tired” and admitted there was a worry the fans wouldn’t recognise her. However, after being calmed down by Stephanie McMahon, Bliss was able to take in the moment:

“That was one of those ones where I just kind of actually took in the moment,” Bliss said. “A lot of times when I’m doing my entrance, I’m still thinking about what’s coming next… I’m not able to enjoy the moment. And that was one of those ones where I just kind of actually took in the moment. And I was like, ‘Wow, this is, this is pretty cool.’”

Alexa Bliss To Return At WWE Evolution

Competing sporadically since her return, Bliss will next be in action at the all-women’s Premium Live Event Evolution. Teaming with Charlotte Flair following their victory on SmackDown, the unlikely duo will be one of 3 teams challenging for the Women’s Tag Team Championships. Bliss appeared at the 2018 event by accompanying Mickie James and Alicia Fox to the ring for their match against Trish Stratus and Lita.
