Further details have been provided on the series of events that led to Alexa Bliss making her return to WWE.
After more than 2 years away, Bliss entered the Royal Rumble match at number 21 to a thunderous ovation from the Indianapolis crowd. Although the return of the former Women’s Champion was long overdue and are excited to see who Bliss will face at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, previous reports indicated that the return plans could have been scrapped.
Ahead of the show, news broke that Alexa Bliss and WWE were at odds over her contract, with the disagreement reportedly being that Bliss wanted a new deal but the company wanted to keep the WWE star on her current deal, which was extended due to her absence as a result of maternity leave. Thankfully, with both sides coming to terms on a new deal, more information has since been provided on the terms of Bliss’ new contract.
Alexa Bliss Now Back In WWE
The details of Bliss’ new deal and how it came together were reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select. In terms of the deal itself, Bliss signed a 5-year contract on the day of the show and was later flown out to Indianapolis for the event. Fightful also adds that had Bliss not participated in the match then Shotzi would have taken her place.
It is also added that those in the match were not aware that Bliss would be an entrant until the day of the show as she was not at rehearsals earlier in the week. Fightful also confirmed previous reports that Bliss wanted a new deal but the company wanted to keep her on the existing deal. It was also added that Bliss’ merchandise that was prepared in preparation for the return had been selling very well in the days that followed.
It should also be noted that a prior report from PWInsider stated that Bliss will be on the Raw brand moving forward, which means that she will not be on the same brand as The Wyatt Sicks.
