Every WWE Money In The Bank Winner

Over the past 20 years, the WWE Money in the Bank match has established itself as one of the most anticipated bouts on the annual calendar.

Beginning back in 2005 as a ladder match at WrestleMania, the match gained so much popularity among WWE fans that it became its own show in 2010 and is now regarded as one of the most important events each year, alongside the big 4 of WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam and Survivor Series.

Creating intrigue and excitement, the winner of the Money in the Bank briefcase earns the opportunity to cash in the contract for a championship match of their choosing at any time. While some have chosen to announce their intentions in advance, most have seized the opportunity and cashed in when they had the ultimate advantage.

With 34 matches and 32 cash-in attempts over the past 2 decades, Money in the Bank has created many moments that have lived on forever for good and bad. Some have seen their careers change forever, while others have seen the moment become a career lowlight.

Every WWE Money In The Bank Winner And What Happened Next

  • 2005: Edge – Competing in the first-ever Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 21, Edge defeated Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Christian, Kane, and Shelton Benjamin to become the first-ever wrestler to unhook the briefcase. The following year at New Year’s Revolution, Edge cashed in the contract on John Cena immediately after Cena won a gruelling Elimination Chamber match. Defeating Cena in what became the main event of the show, Edge won the first of his 11 World Championships on that day.
  • 2006: Rob Van Dam – One year later, RVD emerged the victor over Bobby Lashley, Finlay, Matt Hardy, Ric Flair, and Shelton Benjamin to become the new Mr. Money in the Bank. Once again cashing in on John Cena, RVD announced his intentions ahead of time as he opted to face Cena in the main event of ECW One Night Stand 2006. Competing in front of a rabid crowd, Van Dam defeated Cena thanks to an assist from Edge and Paul Heyman to win his first and only WWE Championship.
  • 2007: Mr. Kennedy – The biggest what-if in Money in the Bank history. At WrestleMania 23, Kennedy defeated CM Punk, Edge, Finlay, Jeff Hardy, King Booker, Matt Hardy, and Randy Orton to capture the briefcase and looked set to follow in the footsteps of Edge and Van Dam as the next World Champion. However, in what ended up being a misdiagnosed injury, Kennedy had to relinquish the briefcase by losing a match to Edge. Following the victory, Edge cashed in on The Undertaker on the May 11th SmackDown to win the World Heavyweight Championship.
  • 2008: CM Punk – Competing in his second Money in the Bank match in 2008, Punk defeated Carlito, Chris Jericho, John Morrison, Montel Vontavious Porter, Mr. Kennedy, and Shelton Benjamin to capture the briefcase for the first time in his career. Maintaining the 100% success rate of the briefcase, Punk cashed in the contract on Edge on the June 30th Raw to capture his first World Heavyweight Championship.
  • 2009: CM Punk – Becoming the first star to win WWE Money in the Bank twice, Punk went back-to-back with a victory in the ladder match at WrestleMania 25, this time over Christian, Finlay, Kane, Kofi Kingston, Mark Henry, Montel Vontavious Porter, and Shelton Benjamin. Much like the year before, Punk made sure that his cash-in was a successful one as he took advantage of a beaten-down Jeff Hardy at Extreme Rules to once again win the World Heavyweight Championship.
  • 2010: Jack Swagger – The first of 3 Money in the Bank matches to take place that year, Swagger defeated Christian, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, Evan Bourne, Kane, Kofi Kingston, Matt Hardy, Montel Vontavious Porter, and Shelton Benjamin to capture the briefcase. Swagger defeated Chris Jericho on the April 2nd episode of SmackDown to win the World Heavyweight Championship, his only top title win in WWE.
  • 2010: Kane – The first ladder match to take place on the standalone Money in the Bank pay-per-view, Kane defeated Big Show, Christian, Cody Rhodes, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, Kofi Kingston, and Matt Hardy to emerge the victor. Wasting little time, Kane cashed in his contract just 49 minutes later to defeat Rey Mysterio and win the World Heavyweight Championship in what was the shortest time with the briefcase at that point.
  • 2010: The Miz – Rounding out the trifecta of winners that year, The Miz defeated Chris Jericho, Edge, Evan Bourne, John Morrison, Mark Henry, Randy Orton, and Ted DiBiase to win the contract for the first time in his career. Cashing in his contract on Randy Orton on the November 22nd episode of Raw, Miz won his first WWE Championship while also having the moment immortalised with an angry young fan in the crowd who went on to be known as “Miz girl.”
  • 2011: Daniel Bryan – Emerging victorious over Cody Rhodes, Heath Slater, Justin Gabriel, Kane, Sheamus, Sin Cara, and Wade Barrett in the ladder match, Daniel Bryan took advantage of a beaten-down Big Show at TLC that year to win the World Heavyweight Championship, leaving announcer Michael Cole stunned.
  • 2011: Alberto Del Rio – The second match to take place on the Money in the Bank pay-per-view, Del Rio defeated Alex Riley, Evan Bourne, Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston, Rey Mysterio, R-Truth, and The Miz to capture the contract. After CM Punk was attacked by Kevin Nash on the August 14th episode of Raw, Del Rio capitalised and pinned Punk to become the new WWE Champion.
  • 2012: Dolph Ziggler – Emerging victorious over Christian, Cody Rhodes, Damien Sandow, Santino Marella, Sin Cara, Tensai, and Tyson Kidd, Ziggler’s cash-in is regarded as one of the best in the stipulation’s 20-year history. Seizing his moment on the Raw after WrestleMania 29, Ziggler cashed in to a thunderous ovation when he defeated Alberto Del Rio to win the World Heavyweight Championship.
  • 2012: John Cena – Competing in his first WWE Money in the Bank ladder match, Cena defeated Big Show, Chris Jericho, Kane, and The Miz to grab the briefcase in a moment that also gained notoriety for Cena’s facial expression when he unhooked the contract. Unfortunately for Cena, this was the first time that a cash-in did not lead to a title change. Announcing his cash-in ahead of time for Raw 1,000, Cena’s match against champion CM Punk ended in DQ thanks to interference from The Big Show. While Cena won the match by DQ, the title did not change hands.
  • 2013: Damien Sandow – One of the more infamous follow-ups, Sandow was victorious over Antonio Cesaro, Cody Rhodes, Dean Ambrose, Fandango, Jack Swagger, and Wade Barrett to win the briefcase. Although Sandow attempted to capitalise by catching John Cena unawares on the October 28th Raw, Cena pinned Sandow in the match, marking the first time that a Money in the Bank holder was defeated in their cash-in.
  • 2013: Randy Orton – Having a much more successful cash-in than Sandow, Orton defeated Christian, CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Rob Van Dam, and Sheamus to capture the briefcase for the first time. At SummerSlam that year, Orton made his way to the ring after Daniel Bryan defeated John Cena to win the WWE Championship. After Bryan was attacked by special referee Triple H, Orton capitalised to win the title.
  • 2014: Seth Rollins – After turning on The Shield earlier in the year, Rollins continued his ascent to the main event scene by defeating Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler, Kofi Kingston, Jack Swagger, and Rob Van Dam to win the match. In what is also regarded as one of the best cash-ins in Money in the Bank history, Rollins crashed the main event between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns to pin Reigns and walk out as WWE Champion in what was dubbed “The heist of the century.”
  • 2015: Sheamus – Defeating Dolph Ziggler, Kane, Kofi Kingston, Neville, Randy Orton, and Roman Reigns in the match, Sheamus crashed Roman Reigns’ WWE Championship celebration at Survivor Series that year to win the title.
  • 2016: Dean Ambrose – Defeating Alberto Del Rio, Cesaro, Chris Jericho, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn to win the briefcase, Ambrose chose to cash in the contract after the main event of the show. Shortly after Seth Rollins defeated Roman Reigns to win the WWE Championship, Ambrose cashed in on his former teammate, meaning that all 3 members of The Shield held the top title on the same night.
  • 2017: Carmella – 2017 saw history made as the first-ever Women’s Money in the Bank match took place. In one of the more infamous endings to the match, James Ellsworth unhooked the briefcase and dropped it to Carmella, denying Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Natalya, and Tamina the opportunity to make history. A rematch took place on the June 27th episode of SmackDown, which saw Carmella fairly unhook the briefcase. Holding the briefcase for a record 287 days, Carmella pinned Charlotte Flair on the SmackDown after WrestleMania to win her first Women’s Championship after Flair was attacked by The IIconics.
  • 2017: Baron Corbin – Another run with the briefcase that many would like to forget, Corbin defeated AJ Styles, Dolph Ziggler, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and Shinsuke Nakamura to win the contract. Attempting to cash in on the August 15th episode of SmackDown, Corbin failed to defeat WWE Champion Jinder Mahal after he was distracted by John Cena.
  • 2018: Alexa Bliss – Defeating Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Ember Moon, Lana, Naomi, Natalya, and Sasha Banks, Bliss wasted little time as she cashed in her contract later that night. Interfering in the match between champion Nia Jax and challenger Ronda Rousey, Bliss pinned Jax to win the Women’s Championship.
  • 2018: Braun Strowman – Later that night, Strowman defeated Bobby Roode, Finn Bálor, Kevin Owens, Kofi Kingston, Rusev, Samoa Joe, and The Miz to win the contract. Announcing his cash-in ahead of time, Braun Strowman faced Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship inside Hell in a Cell. While there was the expectation for a title change, interference from Brock Lesnar led to the Hell in a Cell match ending in a no contest.
  • 2019: Bayley – Defeating Carmella, Dana Brooke, Ember Moon, Mandy Rose, Naomi, Natalya, and Nikki Cross to win the WWE Money in the Bank contract, Bayley followed in the footsteps of Bliss by also cashing in her contract the same night, this time on Charlotte Flair.
  • 2019: Brock Lesnar – Lesnar winning the Money in the Bank contract was unexpected as he was not announced to be in the match ahead of time and did not make an appearance until the very end. As Ali, Andrade, Baron Corbin, Drew McIntyre, Finn Bálor, Randy Orton, and Ricochet battled it out, Lesnar stormed to the ring in the final few minutes, pushed Ali off the ladder and gained possession of the briefcase. Lesnar cashed in on Seth Rollins at Extreme Rules to win the Universal Championship.
  • 2020: Asuka – In what became the most unique Money in the Bank match in WWE history, the men and women battled it out simultaneously at company HQ due to restrictions in place as a result of the COVID pandemic. Emerging the victor over Carmella, Dana Brooke, Lacey Evans, Nia Jax, and Shayna Baszler, Asuka was given a unique opportunity the next night on Raw. Instead of facing Becky Lynch for the Raw Women’s Championship, Asuka was given the title as Lynch went on hiatus due to pregnancy.
  • 2020: Otis – The other winner in the cinematic match, Otis caught the briefcase after AJ Styles fumbled it while on top of the ladder. Otis was never able to cash in the contract as he lost the briefcase to The Miz in a match at TLC. The Miz went on to cash in the contract on Drew McIntyre at Elimination Chamber the following year to become a 2-time WWE Champion.
  • 2021: Nikki A.S.H. – Defeating Asuka, Naomi, Alexa Bliss, Liv Morgan, Zelina Vega, Natalya, and Tamina in the first WWE PPV with fans allowed back in attendance, Nikki A.S.H. continued the trend of not keeping hold of the contract long as she cashed in on Charlotte Flair the next night to win her first and only Women’s Championship.
  • 2021: Big E – Winning the match over Ricochet, John Morrison, Riddle, Drew McIntyre, Kevin Owens, King Nakamura, and Seth Rollins, Big E cashed in his contract on Bobby Lashley on the September 13th episode of Raw to win the WWE Championship for the first time in his career.
  • 2022: Liv Morgan – Defeating Alexa Bliss, Asuka, Becky Lynch, Lacey Evans, Raquel Rodriguez, and Shotzi, Morgan was another WWE star who wasted little time as she only waited a couple of hours before cashing in on Ronda Rousey to win her first Women’s Championship.
  • 2022: Theory – Another WWE star who was added to the match on short notice, Theory emerged victorious over Drew McIntyre, Madcap Moss, Omos, Riddle, Sami Zayn, Seth “Freakin” Rollins, and Sheamus to capture the contract. However, in what is regarded as the worst cash-in ever, Theory unsuccessfully challenged Seth Rollins for the United States Championship on the November 7th episode of Raw.
  • 2023: Damian Priest – Taking place in London, England, Priest defeated Butch, LA Knight, Shinsuke Nakamura, Logan Paul, Ricochet, and Santos Escobar to win the Money in the Bank contract. Becoming the second WWE star to cash in at WrestleMania, Priest took advantage of CM Punk’s attack on Drew McIntyre to pin the Scottish star and end his World Heavyweight Championship reign at just 5 minutes.
  • 2023: IYO SKY – Defeating Bayley, Becky Lynch, Trish Stratus, Zelina Vega, and Zoey Stark, SKY waited until SummerSlam to cash in her contract by taking advantage of a worn-down Bianca Belair to win the Women’s Championship.
  • 2024: Drew McIntyre – McIntyre defeated Andrade, Carmelo Hayes, Chad Gable, Jey Uso, and LA Knight to win the briefcase. Cashing in the contract the same night, McIntyre inserted himself into the match between World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest and challenger Seth Rollins. Unfortunately for McIntyre, interference from CM Punk caused the cash-in to be unsuccessful.
  • 2024: Tiffany Stratton – Stratton defeated Chelsea Green, Iyo Sky, Lyra Valkyria, Naomi, and Zoey Stark to win the contract. After multiple teased attempts, Stratton cashed-in the contract on Nia Jax on the first SmackDown of 2025 to win her first Women’s Championship.
  • 2025: Naomi – Competing in the opening match of Money in the Bank, Naomi prevailed over Rhea Ripley, Roxanne Perez, Giulia, Stephanie Vaquer and Alexa Bliss to unhook the briefcase for the first time in her career. Highjacking the main event of Evolution, Naomi made the match between Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY a triple threat to escape with the Women’s World Championship.
  • 2025: Seth Rollins – Joining the exclusive club of 2-time Money in the Bank winners, Rollins defeated Solo Sikoa, El Grande Americano, Andrade, Penta and LA Knight to capture the briefcase once again. Fooling the fans with a suspected injury, Rollins took advantage of a fatigued CM Punk, who just defeated Gunther, to win back the World Heavyweight Championship.
