Former Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore looks to be WWE bound following the latest update.
Following previous reports that Amore was spotted at the WWE Performance Center, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select has added that promoters they have spoken to claim that Amore is no longer taking bookings. It is also added that some of these bookings are ones that the former WWE star would regularly take. It is also added the promoters are “operating on the assumption that Enzo is headed to WWE and will be signing there.”
Amore was released from his contract in January 2018 following allegations of sexual assault. Although the case was dropped, Amore was reportedly let go as he had not informed the company of the allegations ahead of time.
Will Enzo Amore Return To WWE Alone?
Although Amore briefly had a solo run prior to his WWE exit, fans best remember his time in the company for his tag team with Big Cass. While Amore remains a free agent, Cass is currently signed to AEW and competes under the name of Big Bill. However, Bill has been notably absent from TV over the past few weeks, remaining off AEW TV since February and ROH TV since April. It was previously reported that Big Bill’s AEW contract is expected to expire in early June at the latest, meaning that he may too become a free agent. The Fightful report notes that nothing has changed regarding Big Bill’s status.
One of the most popular acts back in 2016, Enzo and Cass made their main roster debut on Raw after WrestleMania 32. Interacting with the likes of John Cena, AJ Styles and Chris Jericho, the duo remained together until their split in May 2017. From there, the former tag team feuded with Big Cass being victorious over his tag partner. Cass was released in 2018, with the former WWE star citing depression, anxiety and an alcohol addiction as the main factors behind his exit.
The duo’s return to WWE is part of the company’s longer-running strategy to refresh the tag team division, as multiple teams such as The Wyatt Sicks and Motor City Machine Guns have been let go. Additionally, top tag team The Usos are currently part of the Roman Reigns storyline.
