Drew McIntyre Joins The Cast Of “The Last Druid”

Drew McIntyre will star alongside Russell Crowe and Pablo Derqui among others in the upcoming movie The Last Druid.

The news was announced by Deadline on June 15. As well as McIntyre, Crowe and Derqui, Crowe’s son Tennyson will be in the film in what will be his second acting role, as well as Stacy Clausen, star of Sundance breakout Leviticus.

Filming for The Last Druid is currently underway in Spain. Deadline reports that “A quarter century after Gladiator, the movie will tell the story of a Roman Emperor who discovers a secluded Druid stronghold in the mountains of Caledonia. A peaceful Celtic elder (Crowe) must take up arms to protect his family and people from annihilation.”

William Eubank [Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin] is directing the movie.

Drew McIntyre Adds To Acting Resume With “The Last Druid”

The Last Druid will be the former WWE Champion’s latest role in a big-budget movie. McIntyre recently wrapped filming for the Highlander remake, which also stars Henry Cavill and Russell Crowe.

McIntyre was last in the ring at WrestleMania 42, where he lost to Jacob Fatu in an unsanctioned match of night 1. At the start of the year, McIntyre shockingly defeated Cody Rhodes to win the WWE Championship for the third time in his career, his 4th World Championship reign overall. 

Following the announcement by Deadline, Mike Johnson of PWInsider provided a follow-up report regarding McIntyre’s status in WWE. Johnson stated that McIntyre is not expected back on TV anytime soon due to The Last Druid filming and other Hollywood projects. It is also noted that there are no creative plans for the Scottish wrestler until further notice.
