Although he is the latest WWE star to break into the acting world, Drew McIntyre is still focused on pro wrestling instead of Hollywood.
Following in the footsteps of the likes of The Rock, John Cena and Dave Bautista, McIntyre has been on an extended hiatus from WWE to work on acting opportunities. With the 4-time World Champion away from the ring for over six months, there has been some speculation that McIntyre may be transitioning away from wrestler and to make acting his priority. However, according to the man himself, that is not the case.
Appearing on CNN-News 18, McIntyre was asked if he was looking for more roles in Hollywood. The WWE star reiterated that he is not actively chasing roles, but thanked Triple H and Nick Khan for all of the opportunities:
“I mean, again, I’m not chasing it. I know a few of our guys are chasing it. I think Drew McIntyre would say, Drew McIntyre didn’t come to Hollywood, Hollywood came to Drew, and we’re taking it as it comes. I will be back to WWE. WWE’s my home, and I appreciate Nick Khan and Triple H letting me go out and explore this world. Hopefully it’s beneficial to both worlds. But when the time is right, Hollywood Drew will be back. But the time’s not right quite yet. But I’m glad that with Agent of Shadows, the two worlds were able to collide.”
McIntyre’s last match took place at WrestleMania 42, which saw him lose to Jacob Fatu. Although the former World Champion has teased a return on social media, there has been no indication as to when that will be.
What Hollywood Projects Has/Will Drew McIntyre Be A Part Of?
McIntyre made his acting debut in the 2024 action movie The Killer’s Game, which stars former WWE Champion Dave Bautista. Upcoming projects for the Scottish wrestler will be Hexed, Highlander, and The Last Druid. The latter two will see McIntyre star alongside Russell Crowe.
Additionally, McIntyre had a featured role in the WWE and ReelShorts collaboration Agent of Shadows.
