Danhausen has sent a congratulatory message to the New York Knicks following the NBA team’s historic win.
On June 13, the Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in game 5 of the series, winning the best of 7 4-1. The win marks the Knicks’ first championship win since 1973. Following the victory, Danhausen sent a congratulatory message to the New York team on social media. The WWE star declared that he was the King of New York, adding that he wanted a statue in the city.
After listing of his demands, which included Danhausen Day, Danhausen declared that the Knicks would forever be uncursed.
Danhausen originally put a curse on ESPN broadcaster Stephen A. Smith, who is a Knicks fan. Following some losses from the team, a fan paid human monies for a Cameo from Danhasuen, requesting that the Knicks be uncursed. Danhausen granted the request, which led to the team having a historic run resulting in the championship win.
Given the popularity of the series, WWE has managed to dodge a major ratings battle with its weekly programming. Game 6 would have taken place on Tuesday against NXT, while Game 7 would have taken place this coming Friday against SmackDown.
Huge Danhausen Plans Following New York Knicks Win
Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline is reporting that WWE is set to collaborate with the Knicks for a number of projects that will involve Danhausen:
“The Danhausen/Knicks deal is being put together by TKO,” he writes. “WWE cameras will be at the parade, and they will likely be putting together a Knicks/Danhausen documentary for YouTube.”
It is also noted that WWE are looking to get as many players as possible to be in attendance for the next Saturday Night’s Main Event special, which is set to emanate from Madison Square Garden:
“At least one Knick is confirmed for SNME. They’re trying to get several more, plus their coach,” he continues. “WWE has already launched the Knicks/Danhausen championship merch on WWEShop. Danhausen is also going to be on ESPN Sunday or Monday at the earliest.”
There are also plans for Danhausen to make an appearance on ESPN as soon as possible.
Following his arrival back at Elimination Chamber, Danhausen has become one of the most popular stars on the roster. Along with regularly getting some of the strongest crowd reactions at WWE events, the very nice and very evil one has been one of the top merchandise sellers.
