Could the former Intercontinental Champion and “The Milan Miracle” Santino Marella make a WWE return as part of Clash in Italy?

WWE’s latest overseas tour is now officially underway following a live event in Liverpool, England on May 28. Along with multiple TV tapings and house shows across the continent, the company will present Clash in Italy on May 31 in Turin.

Fans online have let it be known that they would love to see Santino make an appearance at the event. According to the latest update, there was a pitch to make it happen. According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Selectthere was an idea pitched to have Santino appear on the show. The former WWE star is currently a part of TNA, but talent have been able to appear for both brands as part of the ongoing relationship between both parties.

The report adds that there is no word on whether the pitch progressed any further than the initial stages.

Santino Marella Had A Memorable WWE Debut

Following a run in the Ohio Valley Wrestling developmental system, Santino made his main roster debut on the April 16, 2007 episode of Raw from Milan, Italy. Santino was selected as a fan by Vince McMahon to challenge Umaga for the Intercontinental Championship as part of an open challenge. Thanks to interference from Bobby Lashley, Santino pinned Umaga to win the IC Title on his first night in the company. From there, Marella went on to form alliances with the likes of Beth Phoenix and Valdamir Kozlov, the latter of which he won the Tag Team Championships with.

Along with his memorable debut, fans best remember Santino for his comedic moments. Along with using The Cobra as his finisher and pronouncing wrestlers’ names wrong, Marella also holds the record for the shortest time spent in the Royal Rumble match at just 1 second.
