A wrestling convention in New York has responded after an AI-generated video featuring AJ Lee hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
YouTuber Chris Horror met Lee at The Big Event EXS in New York and took a photo with the WWE star at a meet and greet. However, Horror then used AI software to create a video of them both kissing after the photo was taken, which quickly went viral on social media due to the content, as it was clear that it was computer-generated.
Fans called out the YouTuber over the inappropriate content, with Lee also calling for the video to be taken down as it is harassment. However, at the time of writing, the video is still available online. The video has been viewed more than 33 thousand times on Horror’s YouTube channel, and is one of the most viewed videos on his channel. Horror also has 1.1 thousand subscribers.
On November 21, The Big Event issued a statement on their Facebook page about the video and the online backlash to the content that clearly misrepresented the visitor’s experience of meeting Lee. The convention stated that if anyone tries this in the future, they will receive a lifetime ban from all future events:
As most have you have seen The Big Event has been making headlines for the past 48 hours for the wrong reasons. This isn’t a discussion regarding the positive or negative uses of AI, but if you use AI or any other type of manipulation to misrepresent the experience you had at the show that paints our guests or our fans in a negative or compromising way, you will be banned from all future events, one strike, no appeal. We want everyone who comes to have a memorable experience, a REAL memorable experience, and not create a false narrative that ruins future opportunities and moments for our fans. The celebrities and talent that take time out of their schedule do it because they appreciate the fans that made this all possible, so please, respect the talent, not only during the show, but outside of it as well.
Thank YouBigEvent Staff
