Controversial WWE Raw Line Removed From Peacock Upload

WWE Raw

A line that generated a lot of backlash on WWE Raw has been removed from the on-demand broadcast.

On October 21st, Kairi Sane and Iyo Sky were seen leaving General Manager Adam Pearce’s office. Seconds later, Carlito walked into Pearce’s office and said the line “I gotta learn Chinese.” The line caused many to take offence as Sane and Sky are both Japanese, not Chinese. Additionally, many were also reminded of Sky being subject to racial abuse while in NXT.

Due to the agreement with the USA Network, Raw is not uploaded to Peacock until 28 days after the original broadcast. With the show now available to stream, the line has been edited out with a close-up of Pearce’s face seen in place of the line. In the UK, the same editing has occurred on the WWE Network.

Backstage Reaction To Controversial WWE Raw Line

Following the controversial line being uttered by Carlito, a follow-up report added that it was not a scripted line and that many were not happy with what was said. In subsequent weeks, Carlito has still been seen on TV as a part of The Judgment Day but segments involving talking have been significantly reduced.

Multiple inappropriate segments have been edited out of WWE shows on Peacock over the years, such as Vince McMahon uttering a racial slur along with multiple instances of blackface.
