Cody Rhodes has confirmed that he has signed another deal with WWE and it will be the company where his in-ring career comes to an end.
The American Nightmare is conducting a series of interviews to promote the upcoming Street Fighter movie, where he plays the character Guile. While appearing on the Flagrant podcast, Rhodes confirmed that he had just signed his latest deal with the company. The former WWE Champion added that this would be the place where he would have his final pro wrestling match:
“Forgive me if this is breaking news and please edit it if I’m not allowed to share, which is fine. I just re-signed with WWE, so I’ll end my wrestling career [with WWE].”
Despite being asked by host Andrew Schulz, Rhodes would not disclose how long the new deal lasts. Rhodes is 41 years old and has been consistently a part of the main event scene following his WWE return back in 2022.
Street Fighter is not Rhodes’ first acting role since returning to WWE. The SmackDown star has a cameo role in The Naked Gun reboot, and has also had small acting roles throughout his wrestling career. Elaborating further on his deal, Rhodes added that he is able to step away to pursue other projects and then return to wrestling:
“Say I do have another project. Say I got two other projects, whatever it may be. I’m able to take a step away and I’m able to collaborate with WWE and I’m able to come back home.”
Even though wrestlers taking time away from the ring to film movies was previously unheard of, a lighter schedule has been one of the bigger positives for talent in the TKO era. Other stars such as Drew McIntyre and Liv Morgan also have big projects set to be released in the coming months.
Rhodes will not be in action at Money in the Bank, but looks to be set with a grudge match with Randy Orton down the line.
Analysis – Cody Rhodes Re-Signs With WWE
Rhodes signing a new deal is a no-brainer. The 3-time WWE Champion has been in the top storylines for the past three years and there are no signs of him dropping down the cards anytime soon. Still regarded as the top babyface in WWE and one of the biggest merchandise sellers, it’s no surprise that both sides were able to come to terms on a new deal. With this in mind, Rhodes staying put in WWE is also not a surprise.
The big question now is how much longer does Rhodes want to wrestle for? With fewer house shows and top stars wrestling on TV, Rhodes is able to have an extended career and could realistically keep going for many more years. That being said, if Rhodes did want to retire when this next deal expires, he has already achieved just about every top accolade there is in the promotion.
Back in November 2025, Rhodes stated that his next contract would probably be his last.
