Cody Rhodes has broken his silence on a persistent rumour concerning WrestleMania.
Assuming Rhodes remains the Undisputed Champion by the time WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas rolls around, he is expected to be in the main event for the 4th time in his career. However, with multiple factors at play, it is unknown who The American Nightmare will be defending the title against inside a packed Allegiant Stadium in April. While some have theorised that Rhodes vs. Reigns 3 could be on the cards, the return of The Rock at Bad Blood has once again thrown plans into question as The Final Boss has made it clear that he is not done with either man. Additionally, there is the outside chance that whoever wins the Royal Rumble could also be entered into the mix.
With The Rock and Reigns each having a strong case for a title shot, a common theory is that a triple threat will take place next year to determine who is the better man of the 3. According to Rhodes, the opponent is irrelevant. While speaking with Dayna Roselli on Vegas Revealed, Rhodes stated that all that mattered to him was that he was the main event:
“There are so many rumors circulating. It eats up the social feed, all the different rumors of what the matches might be. The hardest thing to do in WWE, sports entertainment, and pro wrestling in general is not to win [the WWE Title], the hardest thing to do is main event WrestleMania. I don’t care what the rumor is, as long as the rumor is I’m in the main event of WrestleMania. I’m good with it. What I can say for those who keep an eye on the rumor, I bet you what they get at WrestleMania 41 is unexpected even to them. Even the people who follow this, the diehards who feel like they have their finger on the pulse, this one is going to be tough. This one is going to be unexpected, is the best way to put it, but in the best of ways,”
Cody Rhodes Hits Major Milestone
In one of the biggest moments of the year, Cody Rhodes defeated Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 40 to bring to an end the 1,316-day reign of The Tribal Chief and finally finish the story. With multiple successful defences since, Rhodes has now hit over 200 days as the Undisputed Champion.
