CM Punk made his presence felt on WWE NXT.
Advertised ahead of time, Punk appeared earlier in the night on the September 17th episode to try and deliver the big news but was interrupted by Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez. While Punk praised Perez for her accomplishments on the brand, The Prodigy was less than impressed. Firing a few jabs in Punk’s direction, Perez stated that she preferred Punk’s wife and that she should have been a Drew McIntyre instead.
Making his second appearance later in the night, Punk made a second attempt at making his big announcement. Making it clear that the NXT Championship was important, Punk stated that it needed something special. As the fans chanted that it needed a special guest referee, Punk agreed with the crowd and announced that he would officiate the match between NXT Champion Ethan Page and challenger Trick Williams on October 1at, which will be the first episode of NXT to air on the CW Network and will emanate from Chicago.
This will be the second time that Page will defend the NXT Championship with a special guest referee. Back at No Mercy, Page put the title on the line against Joe Hendry with Trick Williams serving as the official.
CM Punk Ready For War In October
Punk’s upcoming appearance on October 1st will take place just a few days before he steps inside Hell in a Cell to take on Drew McIntyre at Bad Blood, which will also mark 25 years since the first cell match took place.
