Although WWE has confirmed that WrestleMania 43 will take place in Saudi Arabia, the specific date for the show is yet to be confirmed.
While the company traditionally confirms the date of the show almost a year in advance, fans are still waiting for news regarding the 2027 event. Assuming the show takes place in early April, there are just six months to go until the biggest show on the calendar. Although the delay is unprecedented, it is reportedly by design.
As reported by WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, no announcement is expected in the month of October. The reason for this is that it keeps competing companies in the United States in limbo. Following the announcement that WrestleMania 2027 would take place in Saudi Arabia, other promotions have hinted that they may run a big show in the US that same weekend. However, the longer WWE leaves it before announcing that date, the more difficult it will be for promotions to secure venues for domestic events.
The report adds that other promotions will not only struggle to book a venue for that weekend, but it will have a knock-on effect on their event calendar.
The end of the report notes that the belief is the date will be announced at the next Saudi Arabia show, Crown Jewel. The event is set for November 7 as part of Riyadh Season.
Analysis – WWE Delays WrestleMania 43 Date
The ball is very much in WWE’s court with this one. With international fans travelling to the show being unlikely, especially given travel advice for Saudi Arabia, there is no pressure to confirm a weekend for Mania 43. With local fans set to be the majority of attendees, there is no pressure to get flights and hotel rooms booked compared to if the show was taking place in America.
There is no denying that the announcement of the 2027 event was a controversial one, and competing companies have hinted that they might hold shows over that weekend. Although this is another example of WWE trying to neuter its competition, it is smart business to delay this as long as possible. Despite previous Mania attendances being a big deal, this one is irrelevant.
When WrestleMania has previously taken place domestically, major independent shows have descended on the city to take advantage of the thousands of fans in the area. The city hosting the indie shows in 2027, if at all, remains to be seen.
