For the second time, AEW WrestleDream will take place.
Set up in 2023 as a tribute to Antonio Inoki, who passed away the previous year, the will air live from Tacoma, Washington and will see Washington native Bryan Danielson put the title on the line against Jon Moxley in the main event. With Danielson winning the tile at All In, Moxley returned shortly afterwards and suffocated his former friend with a plastic bag at AEW All Out. Earning a title shot at Grand Slam, Mox looks to put away The American Dragon once and for all.
5 title matches have also been announced for the show. Predictions for the AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view, which will air live in Tacoma, Washington on October 12th.
AEW WrestleDream Predictions
The Young Bucks (c) vs. Private Party – Tag Team Match For The Tag Team Championships
While it would be nice to see The Bucks finally lose the titles given their lacklustre reign so far, this looks to be another night of babyfaces come close but underhanded tactics result in The Jacksons retaining the titles. Truthfully, the team that should dethrone The Bucks is The Outrunners, hopefully sooner rather than later.
Winners: The Young Bucks
Jack Perry (c) vs. Katsuyori Shibata – Singles Match For The TNT Championship
Much like that tag team match, this will have a predictable outcome with a retention from the champion. With Shibata not being built up the title is not changing hands here and Perry will once again cheat to win. With this once again being Perry’s night, it’s unlikely that The Scapegoat will lose the title until Adam Copeland makes his return.
Winner: Jack Perry
Mark Briscoe (c) vs. Chris Jericho – Singles Match For The ROH World Championship
Following a lengthy break from non-AEW title being defended on AEW PPVs, the ROH World Title will be on the line in a match where no one wants to see Briscoe lose the title. With many heel wins expected on the card this will be a feel-good babyface win for Briscoe with The Conglomeration neutralising The Learning Tree.
Winner: Mark Briscoe
Darby Allin vs. Brody King
With Allin losing his opportunity at a future World Championship opportunity this match will be all about building him back up for a future match and to prove he can be the face of the company. King will utilise his power and Allin will sell the offence great, but ultimately Allin’s perseverence and daredevil style will be the deciding factor.
Winner: Darby Allin
Mariah May vs. Willow Nightingale – Singles Match For The AEW Women’s Championship
May only just won the championship at All In and this is her first title defence on pay-per-view. With Nightingale being determined as the challenger at the last minute it would be really surprising to see a title change happen here. May still has a lot left to accomplish as champion.
Winner: Mariah May
Will Opsreay (c) vs. Ricochet vs. Konosuke Takeshita – 3-Way Match For The International Championship
In what will easily be the match of the night, expect a lot of high spots, a lot of flips and the action to not stop from the opening bell. Ricochet and Ospreay will likely target Takeshita throughout, who will look to take advantage at the opportune time, and something will happen in the match that will once again divide social media. In terms of the finish, this is likely an Ospreay retention once again, possibly setting up a full match against Ricochet down the road.
Winner: Will Ospreay
Adam Page vs. Jay White
Although White has only just returned from injury, Page is on a strong run after defeating Swerve Strickland at All Out. While it is normally a given that the returning star picks up the win, it’s not going to be a good night for White as Page will continue his strong momentum, likely leading to a World Championship opportunity.
Winner: Adam Page
Bryan Danielson (c) vs. Jon Moxley – Singles Match For The AEW World Championship
Could this be the end of Bryan Danielson as a full-time wrestler? With Moxley becoming a man on a mission and Danielson stating that he requires surgery soon, all signs point to the fact that one final battle in his hometown will really be his swansong. Unfortunately, this looks like it could be the location for The American Dragon’s final flight.
Winner: Jon Moxley
