AEW star Hook has further detailed his absence from the ring, revealing that he is recovering from a concussion.
The former FTW Champion has been absent from the ring for a number of weeks, last in action on the April 9th episode of Dynamite, which saw him and Samoa Joe defeat Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli of The Deathriders. There was fan concern for Hook after the match as he vomited twice in the ring. While it was previously reported that the AEW star had not suffered a concussion in the bout, the second-generation star has revealed that he is recovering from the head issue.
Speaking with Wrestling Observer Live on June 19th, Hook stated that he is recovering from the concussion, but hopes to be back in the ring soon:
“I’m recovering from a concussion for those who don’t know, but I’ve been out for a while and should be back soon,” Hook said.
What’s Next For Hook In AEW?
Although he has not competed since April, Hook made a brief run-in during the Anarchy in the Arena match at Double or Nothing to help out the babyface team. The former FTW Champion stared down Samoa Joe after the attack, seemingly indicating that there are issues between the two that need to be settled. With Hook not cleared to compete, Samoa Joe and Katsuyori Shibata have been teaming with Powerhouse Hobbs in recent weeks. Hobbs, Shibata and Joe, collectively known as The Opps, currently reign as the Trios Champions.
Hook is the son of former wrestler and current AEW announcer Taz. Nicknamed the cold-hearted handsome devil, the second-generation star made his debut for the promotion in December 2021 and has competed in 83 matches to date.
