AEW Star Darby Allin Reaches Mount Everest Summit

Darby Allin has looked back on the nerves and range of emotions heading into his match against CM Punk at AEW All Out 2021.

AEW star Darby Allin has made history by becoming the first professional wrestler to climb Mount Everest.

In an update by the platform Everest Logs, Allin and his team made it to the summit at 8:50 am local time. While this was the former TNT Champion’s first time up the tallest mountain in the world, Ang Dorjee Sherpa has now completed the trek 24 times. The full team and their respective previous treks are as follows:

  • Darby Allin, USA
  • Ang Dorjee Sherpa, Nepal/USA 24th summit
  • Pasang Bhote, Nepal 14th summit
  • Tashi Thundu Sherpa, Nepal 12th summit
  • Pemba Sherpa, Nepal 2nd summit

In a follow-up post 4 hours later, it was noted that the team are on their way back to Base Camp and the AEW Star will provide a statement on the feat:

After summitting, the team had a much faster descent. Arriving back into to camp 4 they will spend the afternoon refueling and sleeping after a mammoth night on the mountain. Tomorrow a descent to Camp 2 and then into Base Camp, and you’ll get to hear the story from Darby himself.

Congratulations again to Darby, Ang Dorjee, Pasang Bhote, Tashi Thundu and Pemba. Thank you to Pemba Tharke for being our South Col cook and having water ready for everyone’s return.

Taking a skateboard with him as part of the trek, Allin also performed a kickflip at 20,958 feet, which is believed to be a world record for the highest ever skateboard trick.

Darby Allin Previously Forced To Delay Climb

The former Tag Team Champion was originally set to climb Mount Everest back in 2024. However, as Darby Allin suffered a broken foot on Dynamite back in March last year, the climb was postponed until the following year due to the narrow window where a safe expitdition can be made.

Features of Wrestling would like to congratulate Darby Allin on this historic achievement.
