Called by many fans online as “The best PPV event of 2020.” AEW Full Gear took place last night. Here is what might be happening in the future based on last nights events…
The Inner Circle implodes!
Since the debut episode of Dynamite, The Inner Circle faction have been one of the most entertaining and most consistent factions. There has been little dissension and no matter the result, they have always stuck by each other. But now there is a new member. MJF defeated Chris Jericho and is now allowed in The Inner Circle. Expect frequent bickering and a breakup that will be talked about for months to come.
Brutal TNT title matches
Darby Allin is the new TNT champion. Cody will be soon off screen to promote and film his new side project, Go-Big Show. So who is next for the TNT title? Brian Cage showed his dominance last night, but his momentum has really cooled off in recent weeks. Predictions say he will be defeated in his match with Darby. With Eddie Kingston’s showing in the world title match, he will soon be lined up for Allin. With his brutal ring style and Darby pulling off insane bumps, there will be some big spots in that match. Also, PAC was recently featured on Dynamite and is due an inevitable return. A hard hitting and high flying match on Dynamite would be a talked about return. What a way to say “PAC is back.”
It’s not the end of this tag team feud.
FTR vs The Young Bucks was everything good about tag team wrestling. It does feel like there is more left in this feud, due to there only being one match and the build has not been the best. In a twist of irony, the purist may challenge the new champs to a gimmick match. Possibly a ladder match to try and beat The Young Bucks at their own game.
But it might be the end of cinematic matches…
While Matt Hardy vs Sammy Guevara was the usual insanity expected, there wasn’t a lot new to talk about. The first deletion match happened in 2016, the concept feels dated now, especially at The Hardy Compound. The appeal earlier this year was a way to get around no fans being allowed in buildings. But with fans now in attendance, in person or virtually, the concept may need to be used more sparingly. It doesn’t help that AEW set the bar so high with The Stadium Stampede. At least there were no serious injuries or botches in this match.
Jon Moxley is losing his title.
The final shot of the show was the face off between champion Moxley and new challenger Kenny Omega. Kenny has looked stronger than he ever has in AEW and defeated Adam Page in the tournament final. This momentum will continue to Revolution, where Omega will win the big one. Jon Moxley has held the title for a long time, and there aren’t many challengers left for him to face.
