A title celebration, championship matches and more took place on the July 29 AEW Dynamite.
At Redemption, Willow Nightingale made history by winning the AEW Women’s Championship for the first time in her career. Nightingale also became the first Women’s Grand Slam Champion in the process. Nightingale celebrated her big win on the show.
Multiple title matches were booked for the show, as the National, TBA and Trios Championships were also on the line as part of the show. This was also the first Dynamite following Redemption, which took place the prior weekend.
Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Taz were on commentary for the show.
AEW Dynamite Results July 29:
- Following a recap of Redemption and The Deathriders giving their thoughts on what took place, Renee Paquette caught up with Will Ospreay. Ospreay met the Deathriders in the parking lot. Ospreay dropped Wheeler Yuta and said he was out of the Deathriders. When things settled down, Adam Page showed up. Page said if he needed anything he was there, but Ospreay responded that he didn’t need any help and couldn’t trust anyone.
- Andrade El Idolo defeated Nick Wayne and Jack Perry to retain the National Championship.
- Mike Bailey and Brodido defeated Kyle Fletcher, Brian Cage and Jake Doyle.
- Maya World defeated Persephone to retain the TBS Championship.
- Willow Nightingale appeared live to celebrate her Women’s Title win. Mercedes Mone interrupted and reminded Nightingale she was next in line. Mone wanted to sign the contract there and then, shoving it in Nightingale’s face. Divine Dominion attacked Nightingale until The Brawling Birds made the save.
- Jon Moxley defeated Kommander to retain the Continental Championship.
- The Demand defeated The Conglomoration to become the new Trios Champions. Lethal Twist interfered in the finish to allow Ricochet to capitalise. Adam Page made the save with a barbed wire steel chair.
- Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay met live in the ring in the main event segment. Omega said he showed the fans how he felt at Redemption. Ospreay said that when he came back from injury, none of his friends was there for him. Ospreay said that Jon Moxley was not the man who broke his neck, but the man who could take him to the main event. However, Ospreay did not want to become a World Champion the Moxley way, but by beating the best. Omega said that he wasn’t going to give Ospreay a thank you for setting a trap at Redemption. Ospreay denied he did, and Omega slapped him. Ospreay said they are no longer friends and Omega said he would always be better than him. Ospreay teased the Hidden Blade, but stopped at the last second. Omega fled the ring. Ospreay said this was the biggest match of his life and his turn to kick the ball. Ospreay promised he can pull the trigger and he will beat Omega at his best,
