Willow Nightingale has finally captured the AEW Women’s Championship, earning herself a major accolade in the process.
Competing at Redemption, Nightingale defeated Thekla to win the title for the first time in her career. The closing moments of the match saw Nightingale counter a stomp by Thekla into a backslide pin to capture the championship. The victory brings Thekla’s reign as champion to an end at 165 days.
Following the victory, Nightingale is now the first woman to become a grand slam champion in AEW. The new Women’s Champion previously held the TBS and Women’s Tag Team Championships while a part of All Elite Wrestling.
This was the third title change to take place on the show. Earlier in the night, Maya World defeated Hikaru Shida to win the TBS Championship. Additionally, Andrade El Idolo defeated Mark Davis to capture the National Championship.
Willow Nightingale Set For Championship Showdown With Former Rival
Nightingale’s first title defence is already set. As Mercedes Mone was the winner of the Owen Hart Tournament, The CEO will challenge for the championship at All In inside Wembley Stadium on August 30.
Both women are very familiar with one another following their battles over the TBS Championship. Mone defeated Nightingale back in 2024 to capture the title and begin her record-breaking reign. Also during this reign, Mone captured championships all around the world. Nightingale brought the TBS Championship reign to an end in late 2025.
