Multiple title matches and more took place on the Spring BreakThru AEW Dynamite special, which took place on April 15.
At Dynasty, MJF retained the World Championship over Kenny Omega in the main event, and Darby Allin earned an opportunity at the title by picking up a win over Andrade El Idolo. At the post-Dynasty press conference, Tony Khan announced that the match would take place on Dynamite.
Additionally, Willow Nightingale put her TBS Championship on the line against Kamille.
Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Bryan Danielson were on commentary for the show.
AEW Dynamite Results April 15:
- Renee Paquette interrupted MJF arriving to the arena. Paquette told the World Champion that he was scheduled to have his title defence right now. Darby Allin made his way to the ring and MJF interrupted, stating that he wouldn’t take the match. Bryan Danielson said that he had a message from Tony Khan that the match would now be the main event, and MJF would be stripped of the title if he refused.
- Footage from Dynasty saw Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega in the trainers’ room. Omega and Ospreay were both upset about their losses, and gave each other encouragement for the future.
- Tommaso Ciampa defeated Dezmond Xavier.
- FTR celebrated their victory over Cope and Christian Cage with a 10-second pose.
- Kevin Knight defeated Claudio Castagnoli to retain the TNT Championship.
- Chris Jericho spoke with Renee Paquette about his loss to Ricochet at Dynasty. Ricochet interrupted and stated he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to beat Jericho with his own Lionsault. Jericho called Ricochet bald and the two brawled. The rest of The Demand joined the fight and left Jericho laying.
- Will Ospreay defeated Hechicero. Ospreay stared down Marina Shafir but was attacked by Mark Davis.
- Women’s Champion Thekla appeared in the crowd and bragged about beating Jamie Hayter at Dynasty until Alex Windsor came out to respond. Windsor stopped an attack from Julia Hart and Skye Blue to end the segment.
- Willow Nightingale defeated Kamille to retain the TBS Championship.
- Darby Allin defeated MJF to win the AEW World Championship. Allin hit 4 coffin drops and a headlock takeover to win the match and the title. The babyfaces celebrated with Allin after the match, and Sting also joined the celebrations.
