A title match, a tribute to Rebel and more took place on the September 9 AEW Dynamite: Rebel Heart special.
The show was a tribute to Tnea “Rebel” Brooks, who has been battling ALS after being officially diagnosed earlier in the year. Rebel made a live appearance on the show as she joined Britt Baker for the returning Waiting Room. Baker and Rebel’s guests were Hikaru Shida and TBS Champion Persephone.
Additionally, the Trios Championships were on the line, and Will Ospreay faced David Filay in a World Title Eliminator match. This was Ospreay’s first singles match since winning the World Championship at All In.
AEW Dynamite: Rebel Heart Results September 9:
- A tribute graphic to The Butcher was seen at the start of the show.
- Rebel joined Britt Baker for The Waiting Room, which had Hikaru Shida and Persephone as guests.
- Swerve and The New Level defeated The Conglomeration to defend the Trios Championships. The Demand and Lethal Twist looked to attack both teams after the match, but Brodido and Adam Page evened the odds.
- Britt Baker, Hikaru Shida and Persephone defeated Maya World, Hyan and Thunder Rosa. Rebel gave Baker the glove for the lockjaw finisher.
- Andrade El Idolo defeated The Beast Mortos to retain the National Championship. The Dogs attacked Andrade after the match, leading to Ospreay making the save.
- Will Ospreay defeated David Finlay.
- Darby Allin and Steven Borden defeated Mark Davis and Josh Alexander.
- Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight defeated The Young Bucks in a tables match. FTR interfered in the match. Allin and Borden stopped a further attack from FTR after the match.
