AEW Backstage Reaction To Bryan Danielson Return

More information has been provided following the surprise Bryan Danielson return after AEW Grand Slam went off the air.

Making the shock appearance during the ROH x CMLL Global Wars taping, The American Dragon came to the aid of legendary luchador Blue Panther by getting physical and delivering a Busaiku knee. The Mexican fans erupted upon seeing Danielson again, with many now curious as to what this means, especially as the biggest show of the year, All In: Texas, is scheduled to take place in a few weeks on July 12th.

Danielson has been away from the ring since losing the World Championship to Jon Moxley in the main event of WrestleDream back in October 2024, and in the process also bringing to an end his full-time in-ring career. With the former World Champion attacked by The Deathriders after the match and suffocated with a plastic bag, it appeared that seeds had been planted for a return, whenever that would be.

While fans theorised points where Danielson could be back in the ring, the AEW star has since stated in interviews that he has been dealing with neck issues and was not medically cleared to compete. However, following the Global Wars spot, speculation has risen again.

Will Bryan Danielson Return To An AEW Ring?

A new report by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select has provided more insight into the backstage reaction to the Danielson appearance. In terms of having surgery, those within AEW believe that Danielson still has not had any procedures, but his neck health is what is most important. It is also noted that Danielson has occasionally been backstage and has conducted media interviews to promote upcoming events.

In regards to a possible return, those within the promotion told Fightful that there was an expectation the former World Champion would compete again, which has been solidified further following the bump he took in Mexico.

It is also noted that Danielson saving Blue Panther was a spot that meant a lot to Danielson personally, with the former World Champion previously stating that the legendary CMLL wrestler is his favourite luchador.

At this point in time, further appearances by Danielson remain as speculation and it still remains unknown when or if he will compete in another match, even though the AEW star previously stated that it was only his full-time in-ring career that had come to an end.
