Former WWE Superstar Cesaro, now known as Claudio Castagnoli, has not been seen in a wrestling ring for a number of months.
With the recent announcement that Bryan Danielson has not been medically cleared to compete at Forbidden Door, many fans have speculated that Castagnoli will be the replacement. The replacement will be facing Zack Sabre Jr. at the pay-per-view. Fightful Select have reported an update on the plans for Claudio Castagnoli. The report states that multiple promotions have reached out to the Swiss Cyborg, but there doesn’t seem to be much interest in participating. Fightful have also confirmed that the former Cesaro has been at the Flatbacks Wrestling School in Orlando multiple times in the past few weeks. The report concludes that there is no update on whether Claudio Castagnoli will be the replacement, but training to return to the ring has been taking place.
The former United States Champion parted ways with WWE back in February 2022, with Cesaro choosing not to re-sign with WWE and letting the contract expire. It should be noted that this is a contract expiration, not a release, meaning that no non-compete clause was in effect. Cesaro’s last match in WWE took place on the February 11th edition of SmackDown, where Cesaro would defeat Happy Corbin.
