Cesaro has departed ways with WWE according to a new report. The Swiss Cyborg has not re-signed with the company and is now a free agent.
The report comes courtesy of PWInsider, where it is stated that neither party could come to new terms of a deal for Cesaro. The report also states that WWE did offer an extension to Cesaro, but this was turned down. As this is a contract expiration and not a termination. Therefore, Cesaro is free to show up for any promotion whenever he chooses.
No official statement has been made by Cesaro himself or WWE in regards to this report. A follow-up report has been published by Fightful Select regarding more information behind the shock departure. The Fightful Select report states that Cesaro signed a one year extension to his WWE contract as opposed to a usual multi-year signing. The report also states that in regards to the release, Cesaro “didn’t necessarily provide a reason as to why he was wrapping up.” However, other sources in WWE spoken to have stated that “reasonable disappointment” in how Cesaro was used in WWE may have been a contributing factor.
Cesaro has been a mainstay in WWE for over 10 years. During his time in the promotion, The Swiss Superman captured multiple championships including being a 1 time United States Champion, 7 time tag team champion and the inaugural Andre The Giant Battle Royale winner, which took place at WrestleMania 30.
Features of Wrestling will provide updates to Cesaro when they become available.
