WWE Superstar Sasha Banks has been reportedly released from the company.
The report comes from Raj Giri, who is the founder of website Wrestling Inc. Raj Giri broke the news on Wednesday June 15th in a social media post.
If Banks has been released, the reason will be due to the recent actions of the former Raw and SmackDown Women’s Champion during a live WWE broadcast. Banks and Naomi, who were both WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions at the time, placed their belts onto the desk of head of talent relations John Laurinaitis. The now former champions would then walk out of Raw as the show was being aired, forcing WWE to change their main event plans. In a follow up address by WWE announcer Michael Cole, it was announced that both Sasha Banks and Naomi were suspended by WWE. At the time of writing, there has been no mention of either Banks or Naomi on WWE TV, and no indication that either would be returning to WWE programming in the near future.
Fightful Select have provided follow up information in regards to the status of Sasha Banks. Fightful have “exhausted a number of resources this afternoon, and weren’t able to find anyone who could confirm or deny the release had happened.” The report also states that in regards to reps within WWE “nobody in WWE has explicitly shot it down, they’ve just said they haven’t heard about it.”
Sasha Banks is still listed as a part of WWE’s roster at the time of writing. While the status of The Boss is still in the air, other sources have been unable to completely confirm or deny the report by Raj Giri.
