WWE have announced that the WWE Championship match will not be taking place on the Extreme Rules pay per view. Instead, Bobby Lashley will defend his title against Randy Orton on the September 13th episode of Monday Night RAW.
In the promotional material for the match, WWE have simply stated that the reason for this is that neither Lashley or Orton want to wait until Extreme Rules to have this match. At the time of writing, no backstage reason has been revealed as to why the match has been bumped.
It should also be noted that WWE are still listing the WWE Championship match on the Extreme Rules page of WWE.com. As no matches on the Extreme Rules card currently have any stipulations set, there is a possibility that this match will have a non-finish and will set up a no disqualification style match at Extreme Rules.
Other matches currently announced for the September 13th RAW are as follows:
- Damian Priest issues a United States open challenge.
- Rhea Ripley vs. Natalya.
- Charlotte Flair vs. Shayna Baszler.
- The New Day, Mansoor and Ali vs. MACE, T-BAR, AJ Styles and Omos.
