Dwayne Johnson’s autobiographical sitcom has come to an unexpected end.
The series portraying The Rock’s childhood and early years in wrestling has come to an end after 3 seasons, with NBC electing not to renew the show for a fourth season. The show ran for 37 episodes in total, with ratings slowly declining season on season.
Young Rock saw a future Dwayne Johnson reminisce about his childhood growing up in the wrestling family, and how it would help him deal with problems in the present day. The show began with The Rock’s initial dream of wanting to play in the NFL, but made the transition to professional wrestling.
Following the underwhelming debut as Rocky Maivia, The show would go on to highlight how decisions led The Great One to becoming one of the biggest names ever in the wrestling business.
Major figures of the wrestling industry were portrayed by actors, with fans reception to the likenesses being mixed. While Becky Lynch’s portrayal as Cyndie Lauper was well received, actors playing Attitude Era stars Steve Austin and The Undertaker garnered more criticism.
