NJPW G1 Climax 36 Standings

The NJPW G1 Climax 36 tournament is now underway as the competitors look to make it ot the top of the standings.

Night 1 of the round robin tournament kicked off in Chicago on July 11, with 9 matches taking place in total across the A and B blocks. The main event saw reigning IWGP World Champion Yota Tsuji defeat former champion and 2025 tournament winner Konosuke Takeshita. Jake Lee, Yuto-Ice, Hirooki Goto and Zack Sabre Jr. were also some of the names who picked up victories in the opening round.

Gabe Kidd was unable to compete in Chicago due to ongoing visa issues. Kidd’s scheduled opponent was Drilla Maloney, who also did not compete on the opening night. Kidd is next scheduled to be in action on July 18 in Japan.

The winner of the G1 Climax tournament will receive a future opportunity at the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
