WWE presents what could be the biggest and most newsworthy WrestleMania in recent history on April 6th and 7th.
Back in 2014, fans were met with an equal amount of delight and shock over the series of events that took place in New Orleans. While Daniel Bryan overcame all the odds to become the new WWE Champion, earlier in the night the unthinkable happened as The Undertaker’s legendary streak finally came to an end.
Fast forward 10 years and many are hoping that another feel-good victory takes place in the main event as Cody Rhodes challenges Roman Reigns once again for the Undisputed Championship. However, with all of The Bloodline looking to bring the story to a disappointing end, The America Nightmare will have to overcome Reigns and The Rock the night before. If not, Rhodes faces a monumental challenge against The Tribal Chief on night 2.
WWE WrestleMania 40 Predictions
The Rock & Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins
The match that will determine the rules of the main event of night 2. If Rhodes and Rollins win, all of The Bloodline will be banned from ringside to allow Reigns vs. Rhodes to be a true one on one contest. However, should Rock and Reigns be victorious then the Undisputed title match will be Bloodline rules, meaning anything goes. With Rhodes likely booked to overcome as much adversity as possible in his rematch with Reigns, this feels like a victory for The Bloodline to lead to a match the next night where everyone gets involved.
Winners: The Rock and Roman Reigns.
Iyo Sky (c) vs. Bayley – Singles Match For The WWE Women’s Championship
With Damage CTRL expelling Bayley from the group, the former leader has the odds stacked against her in Philadelphia. In what will be her first singles match on The Grandest Stage, expect the winner of the 2024 Royal Rumble to triumph and become champion once again. With the rest of Damage CTRL tied up with another match on the card, this could be a true one on one match and with both performers having a point to prove, much like Rhea Ripley and Charlotte Flair did last year.
Winner: Bayley
AJ Styles vs. LA Knight
While the match will be good and it is great to see Knight get on the card after being snubbed the year prior, the rivalry feels rather flat and more of a filler match to showcase the two veterans. Giving the crowd a feel-good victory and the Megastar his long overdue WrestleMania moment, Knight will be victorious in Philadelphia.
Winner: LA Knight
Logan Paul (c) vs. Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens – Triple Threat Match For The United States Championship
Not every championship can change hands at WrestleMania. Following the tried and tested formula of the heel champion getting constantly taken out of the match so that the two faces can battle it out, Paul will sneak his way to a successful retention at WrestleMania, which will also see the Prime logo plastered on the ring canvas. With the match being no disqualification, there is also a high chance that KSI will play a factor in the match, allowing Paul to get his moment immortalised as he poses next to the logo for his victory.
Winner: Logan Paul
Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Becky Lynch – Singles Match For The WWE Women’s World Championship
Arguably one of the hardest matches to predict on the show. Once again this could be one of the title matches where a new champion is not crowned. Ripley has remained dominant and has reigned supreme over the entire division ever since winning the title almost a year ago. However, if Ripley is victorious then who is left for her to face after WrestleMania? Although Ripley’s time as champion is nearing its end, there are still a few months left for Mami to be on top.
Winner: Rhea Ripley
Gunther (c) vs. Sami Zayn – Singles Match For The Intercontinental Championship
Although Gunther has done all there is to do with the Intercontinental Championship and WrestleMania is traditionally the site of top title changes, it doesn’t feel like Zayn is the one to bring the record-breaking reign to an end. While Chad Gable as the challenger would have provided much more uncertainty, The Ring General will continue his undefeated streak at WrestleMania 40.
Winner: Gunther
Jimmy Uso vs. Jey Uso
For the first time in 15 years, brothers will face off to see who is the better sibling. With all signs appearing to point to the crumbling of The Bloodline at the end of night 2, the group is likely to be victorious in all the matches leading up to the Sunday main event. Jimmy Uso will stand tall over his brother in Philadelphia, likely due to interference from Solo Sikoa.
Winner: Jimmy Uso
Seth Rollins (c) vs. Drew McIntyre – Singles Match For The World Heavyweight Championship
While Rollins has had multiple epic moments and big wins at previous WrestleManias, 2024 will be a year to forget for The Visionary. Not only will Rollins lose the massive tag team match on WrestleMania Saturday, and likely take the pin in the process, his title reign will come to an end the next night. Although McIntyre’s contract remains a major talking point and it is believed this may factor into the decision, there is still the belief that The Scottish Warrior will finally win a major championship in front of fans.
Winner: Drew McIntyre
The Judgment Day (c) vs. Awesome Truth vs. #DIY vs. New Catch Republic vs. A-Town Down Under vs. The New Day – Six-Pack Ladder Match For The Undisputed Tag Team Championships
With many athletic teams and chaos advertised ahead of time, there is a strong chance that this match may be the match of the night. Unfortunately for The Judgment Day, this feels like their title reign will come to an end. With R-Trith expelled from The Judgment Day and still one of the most popular stars on the Raw roster, Miz and Truth will likely win at least one championship on the night. It has since been clarified that both championships need to be unhooked for the match to be over, meaning 2 teams may walk out as champions. If so, a SmackDown team will need to be victorious, likely Austin Theory and Grayson Waller.
Winners: The Awesome Truth
Bianca Belair, Naomi and Jade Cargill vs. Asuka, Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai
With Bianca Belair undefeated at WrestleMania, this being Jade Cargill’s debut and no titles at stake, this is almost a lock that Belair, Naomi and Cargill will win. The main objective in this match will be to make Cargill look as dominant as possible and solidify her as a main event star for the next few months.
Winners: Bianca Belair, Naomi and Jade Cargill
Rey Mysterio & Andrade vs. Dominik Mysterio and Santos Escobar
With Escobar being responsible in storyline for injuring Rey Mysterio and this only feeling like the start of the rivalry, this is very likely to be a victory for Santos Escobar and Dominik. With the main event on Sunday expected to be Bloodline rules, interference is likely to play as much into the finish as it normally would. A huge multi-man match is coming soon, but this is where Dominik Mysterio gets retribution for the previous year and is how he ultimately breaks away from Rhea Ripley and The Judgment Day.
Winners: Dominik Mysterio and Santos Escobar
Bobby Lashley & The Street Profits vs. Karrion Kross & AOP – Philadelphia Street Fight
While this is another filler match, the no disqualification aspect could make this better than anyone has predicted. With chaos being advertised, anything could happen in this match and is likely the end of the rivalry after weeks of brawling. Looking to establish themselves once more, Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits are likely to be the victors in this match.
Winners: Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits
Roman Reigns (c) vs. Cody Rhodes – Singles Match For The Undisputed Championship
Although the headings above says singles match, this will be anything but a one-on-one contest. With Rhodes very likely suffering a defeat in the main event of night one, the main event is set to be Bloodline rules and all-out warfare between both sides. Much like the climax of Avengers Endgame, Reigns’ past is going to come back to haunt him and Rhodes will have backup to fight The Bloodline. With John Cena, Steve Austin and more possibly rumoured to get involved at the show, this could be one of the biggest and chaotic main events in WrestleMania history. When all is said and done, this may just be the place where Cody Rhodes finally finishes the story.
Winner: Cody Rhodes
