WWE star Carmelo Hayes has commented on the news that Baron Corbin is set to depart the company imminently.
The wrestling world was surprised on November 1st when it was reported that Corbin, Tegan Nox and Indi Hartwell would not be making any more appearances on TV, which all 3 later confirmed on social media. While Hatwell and Nox were said to be releases, Corbin was told that his contract would not be renewed when it expires.
During his return to NXT, Corbin crossed paths with Hayes numerous times in what became a career resurgence for the United States Champion. While speaking with Alistair McGeorge of Metro, Hayes praised the work of Corbin and admitted it was tough to see him go:
“Listen, Baron was one of the people that actually took a liking to me, and took me under his wing. He did so much for me, he helped me so much, he gave me so much advice. Not just wrestling, life advice, money advice, so many things. I’m forever indebted to Baron Corbin – super talented, and I hate to see him go. That was one of those ones that really kinda hurt, seeing that, because believe it or not, me and Baron were pretty close, pretty tight. Everybody loved Baron,”
What’s Next For Baron Corbin?
At the time of writing, Corbin has not been announced for any appearances post-WWE and it is unknown exactly when his contract will expire. However, unlike Nox and Hartwell, Corbin will become a free agent as soon as his contract expires and will not be subjected to the 90-day no compete clause.
Along with being a former United States Champion, Corbin also won the NXT Tag Team Championships with Bron Breakker, was a former Money in the Bank holder and defeated Kurt Angle in the Hall of Famers final match.
