The John Cena vs. R-Truth rematch, King and Queen or the Ring semifinals and more took palce on the June 20 WWE SmackDown.
John Cena easily defeated R-Truth on the May 24th Saturday Night’s Main Event, but Truth has shown a more vicious side since his return to the company. Cutting off his hair and attacking Cena multiple times, Cena demanded a rematch with Truth, which was later made official. The match was also the latest Cena appearance ahead of his title match against CM Punk at Night of Champions.
Additionally, Randy Orton, Sami Zayn, Alexa Bliss and Asuka all looked to advance in their respective King and Queen of the Ring tournaments.
Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett were on commentary for the show.
WWE SmackDown Results June 20
- LA Knight officially opened the show and called out Seth Rollins. Paul Heyman interrupted instead and made his may into the ring. Heyman advised Knigth to get out of town before something bad happened to him. Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed arrived and attacked Knight, but Knigth fended them off with a steel chair.
- Asuka defeated Alexa Bliss to advance to the final of Queen of the Ring.
- R-Truth attacked Kit Wilson as he as making his entrance for a match against Aleister Black. The match between Wilson and Black didn’t happen.
- Cody Rhodes was going to speak about the King of the Ring semi-final, but was interrupted by Jey Uso, then Sami Zayn, then Randy Orton. All 3 vowed to win the tournament, but Rhodes never spoke.
- Randy Orton defeated Sami Zayn to advance to the final of King of the Ring.
- Tiffany Stratton challenged Nia Jax to a Last Women Standing match for the Women’s Championship next week. Jax laid out Stratton and Naomi arrived to tease a Money in the Bank cash in. Jax protested and laid out Naomi.
- Charlotte Flair defeated Chelsea Green. Piper Niven and Alba Fyre attacked Flair after the match, but Alexa Bliss made the save.
- Solo Sikoa wated to hear Jacob Fatu say “I love you Solo.” Fatu refused and JC Mateo tried to attack, but Jimmy Uso evened the odds for the Fatu.
- LA Knight vs. Bronson Reed ended in DQ when Bron Breakker attacked Knight. The heels beat down Kngth after the match.
- John Cena vs. R-Truth also ended in DQ when Truth was struck with the championship. CM Punk tried to beat down Cena but was also laid out. Cena cut his own version of the pipebomb after the match, referencing Nic Nemeth, Matt Cardona and Claudio Castagnoli.
