The fallout from Saturday Night’s Main Event and Evolution, and more took place on the July 18 edition of WWE SmackDown.
One week on from the double header, WWE focused on the build to SummerSlam with more matches added to the Premium Live Event, which will expand to 2 nights for the first time in 2025. Additionally, John Cena made his return to sign the contract for his match against Cody Rhodes, which will likely close out night 2 of the show. SmackDown also saw Stephanie Vaquer in action and the return of Jacob Fatu.
Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett were on commentary for the show.
WWE SmackDown Results July 18
- The cold open saw the show air live from the parking lot as a car crash had occurred beforehand. Solo Sikoa and co were seen and Adam Pearce was the General Manager for the night. Cody Rhodes briefly spoke with Adam Pearce.
- After Charlotte Flair informed Alexa Bliss that she had secured them a Women’s Tag Team Championship match at SummerSlam, Flair defeated Raquel Rodriguez.
- Police were seen speaking t Jacb Fatu in relation to the car crash.
- Damian Priest vs. Carmelo Hayes ended in a no contest when Aleister Black interfered. Black hit the Black Mass on both.
- Solo Sika and the family appeared in the ring. Despite Sikoa accusing Fatu of being reckless, it was revealed that Fatu was innocent in the investigation and a brawl ensued with Jimmy Uso fighting alongside Fatu. Sikoa was taken away for trying to frame Fatu.
- Stephanie Vaquer defeated Alba Fyre.
- Andrade and Rey Fenix won a 4-way match that also featured DIY, Fraxiom and Motor City Machine Guns. Andrade and Fenix are the new number one contenders fr the tag titles.
- John Cena and Cody Rhodes signed the contract to make their SummerSlam match official. A brawl ensued with Rhodes standing tall.
Also on July 18, NXT hosted a live event in Sebring, Florida.
