The final build to Saturday Night’s Main Event and more took place on the latest episode of WWE SmackDown.
On January 25th, the next WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event special will take place, which will see Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens sign the contract to make their match at the Royal Rumble official, which will be moderated by San Antonio’s own Shawn Michaels.
Announced ahead of time for SmackDown was an appearance from Rhodes, LA Knight vs. Tama Tonga and MCMG vs. Pretty Deadly.
Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett were the announce team for the show.
The Following Results Took Place On WWE SmackDown:
- Joe Tessitore opened the show by hyping up the crowd before introducing Cody Rhodes. The American Nightmare hyped up the ladder match and put over Kevin Owens but stated that his opponent will always look for the easy way out.
- Motor City Machine Guns defeated Pretty Deadly
- Kevin Owens cut a promo about how everyone is sucking up to Cody Rhodes before being attacked by Jimmy Uso
- B-Fab and Michin defeated Chelsea Green and Piper Niven
- Tiffany Stratton cut a promo about being Women’s Champion before being cut off by multiple members of the roster, who all basically stated that they would be the winner of the Royal Rumble match
- Nia Jax, Candice LeRae and Liv Morgan defeated Bianca Belair, Naomi and Rhea Ripley
- Apollo Crews defeated Johnny Gargano
- LA Knight defeated Tama Tonga. Jacob Fatu and Tonga tried to attack Knight after the match but Braun Strowman made the save
- Damian Priest, who was revealed to be the latest SmackDow signing, defeated Carmelo Hayes
- Kevin Owens defeated Jimmy Uso. Owens and Rhodes brawled after the bell to close out the show
