Another WrestleMania match was made official and more on the penultimate WWE SmackDown before the biggest show of the year.
The show saw the challengers for Women’s Tag Team Champions Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez determined via a gauntlet match along with a stipulation added to Drew McIntyre vs. Damian Priest. Additionally, the follow-up to Randy Orton needing a WrestleMania opponent took place.
The show also saw Cody Rhodes appear live ahead of his match with John Cena at WrestleMania.
Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett were the commentary team for the show.
The Following Results Took Place On WWE SmackDown:
- General Manager Nick Aldis opened the show and invited Randy Orton to the ring. Orton acknowledged that he paid for last week’s RKO in advance and now they are even. Orton then referenced that he did not have a match at WrestleMania and he needed something big for his 20th appearance at the event. Aldis demanded respect from Orton, to which Orton brought up Aldis’ wife Mickie James before being interrupted by Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga. A brawl ensued with LA Knight making the save. A tag match was made for later in the night.
- Bayley and Lyra Valkyria won the gauntlet match to become the new number one contenders to the Women’s Tag Team Championships. The order was as follows:
- —Bayley and Lyra Valkyria eliminated Zoey Stark and Shayna Baszler
—Bayley and Valkyria eliminated Natalya and Maxxine Dupri
—Bayley and Valkyria eliminated Kayden Carter and Katana Chance
—Bayley and Valkyria eliminated B-Fab and Michin
—Bayley and Valkyria eliminated Alba Fyre and Piper Niven - Damian Priest was attacked by Drew McIntyre. It was later confirmed that their match at WrestleMania would be a street fight.
- Rey Fenix defeated Berto.
- Zelina Vega defeated Chelsea Green.
- Cody Rhodes appeared in the ring with his Undisputed Championship and previous iterations of the title. Rhodes acknowledged the hisotry of the championship and how the greats have held them over the years. Rhodes promised to win at WrestleMania.
- Tiffany Stratton defeated Roxanne Perez. Charlotte Flair brawled with Stratton after the match before Wade Barrett broke things up.
- LA Knight and Randy Orton defeated Solo Sikoa and Randy Orton.
