WWE SmackDown Preview January 9

The Undisputed Championship will be on the line and more on the January 9 episode of WWE SmackDown.

Drew McIntyre is looking to win the top championship for a 4th time as he challenges Cody Rhodes for the title. With McIntyre claiming that he has been previously screwed over in previous matches, The Scottish Warrior has instead elected to face Rhodes in a 3 stages of hell match, meaning that both men may have to go to 3 falls to determine the winner.

On the January 2 episode of SmackDown, McIntyre revealed that the stipulations for the match are as follows:

  • Match 1 – Standard singles match
  • Match 2 – Falls count anywhere match
  • Match 3 [if required] – steel cage match

Also on the January 2 SmackDown, former NXT Champion Trick Williams interrupted Sami Zayn and revealed that he had been called up to the SmackDown roster. Following a backstage disagreement, Williams was informed that his debut match on the blue brand would be against Rey Fenix.

The show will also air live in Germany for international viewers, and is set to begin at 8 pm local time [7 pm in the UK]. However, those watching in the US will have to wait until the standard start time to catch the show.
