A title match and more have been announced for the December 26 WWE SmackDown, the final edition of the show in 2025.
Continuing to be a fighting champion, Ilja Dragunov will put his US Title on the line once more in an open challenge. The opponent has not been announced at the time of writing, but Dragunov will be hoping that his run of successful defences continues.
Back at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, The Miz was embarrassed once more when he was beaten down by R-Truth and Joe Hendry after Miz said his name. On the December 19 SmackDown, The Miz demanded that Nick Aldis give him a match against Hendry, which was agreed to
After meeting with Aldis at his home, Drew McIntyre has agreed to return to SmackDown despite his claims that there is an unsafe working environment. Negotiating terms on his level, McIntyre will get a future match against WWE Champion Cody Rhodes with the title on the line, but Rhodes can’t touch McIntyre until the match takes place.
This will also be the final episode of the show to have the 2-hour format, as SmackDown will extend to 3 hours again beginning in early 2026.
