WWE ends their major week of programming with SmackDown.
Much like the Day 1 edition of Raw on New Year’s Day, the January 5th episode of SmackDown will also be a special edition of the show. Titled New Year’s Revolution, a major title match has been scheduled and major implications for the Royal Rumble will take place.
Randy Orton, AJ Styles and LA Knight all want to be next in line to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed Championship. As such, a triple threat match has been scheduled for the show, with the winner going on to the Royal Rumble to challenge The Tribal Chief.
Another number one contenders match has also been booked. An 8 man tournament has been taking place over the past few weeks to crown a new number one contender to the United States Championship. Kevin Owens and Santos Escobar will face off in the final, with the winner going on to challenge Logan Paul at a later date.
The Women’s Championship will be on the line on SmackDown. Following on from Michin picking up a pinfall victory over IYO SKY on December 22nd, SKY will defend the title against Michin on SmackDown.
