Live from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the June 27 WWE SmackDown presented the final build to Night of Champions the following night.
Three title matches were announced ahead of time as Zelina Vega defended the Women’s US Title against Giulia, The Street Profits defended the Tag Titles against The Wyatt Sicks and Tiffany Stratton defended the Women’s title against Nia Jax in a Last Woman Standing match.
Michael Cole and Wade Barrett were the commentators for the show.
WWE SmackDown Results June 27
- Cody Rhodes officially kicked off the show. The American Nightmare was soon interrupted by Randy Orton. The Viper addressed the previous match between Rhodes and Jey Uso before the broadcast feed went down. Orton entertained the fans as the show was off-air.
- After 30 minutes of no air time, Michael Cole apologised for the delay.
- JC Mateo defeated Jimmy Uso. Uso refused the offer to join Sikoa after the match and was beaten down by Sikoa and Mateo until Fatu made the save.
- SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis made a match between DIY vs. Andrade and a mystery partner.
- Giulia defeated Zelina Vega to become the new Women’s United States Champion
- Wade Barrett interviewed Jade Cargill and Asuka ahead of their Queen of the Ring final match. Cargill stated that it was her opportunity to prove that she belongs in WWE. Asuka stated that Cargill was not ready for her and Naomi interrupted. Carguill pushed past Asuka but got laid out with a kick.
- Ron Killings stated that he was still looking for John Cena.
- Andrade and Rey Fenix defeated DIY.
- Ron Killings showed up and demanded John Cena appear, only to be laid out by Aleister Black.
- The Street Profits vs. The Wyatt Sicks ended in DQ when all the tag teams got involved. The Wyatt Sicks stood tall.
- Jimmy Uso and Jacob Fatu met backstage, both stating that they didn’t need the other’s help.
- Tiffany Stratton defeated Nia Jax in a Last Woman Standing match to retain the Women’s Championship. Naomi attempted to cash in her Money in the Bank contract.
- John Cena made his entrance to a great reception. After mocking the crowd, Cena’s old music played and CM Punk made his entrance as the Dr. of Thuganomics. Punk cut a diss track on Cena and celebrated with the fans as the show went off the air.
