A new number one contender will be crowned and more on the January 24 WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event special.
Drew McIntyre kicked off 2026 in a huge way as he shockingly defeated Cody Rhodes to win the WWE Championship, albeit with an assist from Jacob Fatu. On the January 16 SmackDown, Sami Zayn, Randy Orton, Trick Williams and Damian Priest all won their respective qualifying matches to advance to the Saturday night special. Whoever wins the 4-way match will go on to the Royal Rumble and face Drew McIntyre with the title on the line.
With Rhodes irate that Fatu cost him his championship, The American Nightmare will also be in action on the show as he will face off against The Samoan Werewolf. With Liv Morgan looking to win back the Women’s Tag Team Championships that she never lost, the former Women’s Champion will team up with Roxanne Perez to take on Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY with the titles on the line.
Ahead of his career-threatening match at the Royal Rumble against Gunther, AJ Styles will take on former rival Shinsuke Nakamura.
