WWE Issues Statement Following Ava’s Departure

WWE Issues Statement Following Ava's Departure

WWE has commented on the news that Ava has left the company.

On January 30, the now-former NXT General Manager posted a statement on social media that the most recent episode of NXT would be her last appearance in the promotion. Ava thanked the fans for all their support while noting that it is time for the next chapter of her life to begin:

“This past Tuesday was my last appearance on NXT & subsequently WWE. Thank you to all who have cheered, watched, and supported me through my journey. While my decision to not renew my contract was very difficult, it’s also new turning point in my life. It has been an honor & a privilege to be Ava.”

Later that day, WWE sent the following statement to news sites asking for an update on the news:

“WWE thanks and applauds Simone Garcia Johnson for her stellar work as Ava and beyond. Her passion, dedication, and impact were felt across the entire NXT and WWE community. We wish her the very best in all future endeavors.”

Ava, real name Simone Johnson, is the daughter of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and interacted with the Hollywood star on the first NXT of 2025. Signing with the company in 2020, Ava made history by becoming the first 4th-generation wrestler to sign a contract. Following a brief run as active talent, Ava took ove as the brand’s General Manager in early 2024, becoming the youngest person to hold the position.

WWE Acknowledges Ava Has Left The Company

The statement on the departure is a rare one from WWE, as in recent times departures have not been publicly commented on. In previous years, articles would be posted onto WWE’s website to let fans know that talent had been released. However, this changed during the many rounds of releases during the pandemic, which saw fans find out about releases via wrestling media as opposed to the company themselves.
