WWE Apologised To Goldberg Following Production Error

WWE Apologised To Goldberg Following Production Error

A WWE higher-up has reportedly issued an apology to Goldberg after the Hall of Famer’s final address was cut short.

Goldberg stepped inside the ring one final time at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12, challenging Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship. Although the WCW veteran hit the spear and the Jackhammer on The Ring General, it was not enough as Gunther put the 58-year-old to sleep in front of his family and friends in Atlanta, Georgia.

Following the match, Goldberg got on the mic and spoke to the fans about his career. However, as the special was broadcast on NBC, there was a strict time schedule to adhere to, meaning that his speech was cut off shortly after it began.

The following day, WWE uploaded the full 10-minute clip onto its YouTube channel, with many of the comments criticising the company for not allowing it to be broadcast. In a follow-up report by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Selectthe production error was of course not intentional and that “at least one higher up apologised to Goldberg for that.”

The clip also saw Cody Rhodes make an appearance, thanking the veteran for all that he had done for wrestling over the course of his career.

WWE Hall Of Famer Finishes Up His Wrestling Career

After more than 3 years out of the ring, Goldberg was finally given the opportunity to retire on his own terms. The match was set up when the Hall of Famer and Gunther had an altercation back at Bad Blood, with the 4-time World Champion announcing he would be retiring in 2025 shortly afterwards.
