WWE Announces Women’s Intercontinental Championship

WWE has officially announced a Women's Intercontinental Championship will be introduced on Raw shortly.

WWE has introduced yet another championship.

Prior to the November 25th episode of WWE Raw going on the air, General Manager Adam Pearce appeared in the ring and spoke about the rich 40 year history of the Intercontinental Championship. Describing the title as the workhorse title and a symbol of excellence, Pearce stated that he feels the same way about the women’s division. With this in mind, the Raw GM then unveiled the Women’s Intercontinental Championship and stated that it would be awarded to whoever was victorious in a tournament that will start on the December 2nd episode of Raw. No entrants have been announced for the tournament at the time of writing,

WWE Introduces New Championships On All 3 Brands

The Women’s Intercontinental Championship completes the trifecta of new titles being introduced for the women’s division. Beginning in April with the introduction of the Women’s North American Championship in NXT, which saw Kelani Jordan become the inaugural champion at Battleground, it was later announced in November that a Women’s United States Championship would be introduced on SmackDown. A tournament is currently underway and will conclude at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Bayley and Chelsea Green have advanced so far with more matches set to take place in the coming weeks.
