WWE And AAA Running Shows On Same Day As All In, Tony Khan Responds

Tony Khan has given his thoughts on WWE and AAA potentially counter-programming the biggest show on the AEW calendar.

June 28 was a busy day in the wrestling world as NXT Great American Bash, AEW Forbidden Door and TNA Slammiversary all took place on the same day. During the Great American Bash, WWE announced that AAA and NXT would run back-to-back shows on Sunday, August 30, the same day that All In is set to emanate from Wembley Stadium in London, England.

While times have not been confirmed, there is a possibility that the WWE and AAA shows could run at the same time as AEW’s biggest show of the year. When asked about the latest counter-programming tactic, Khan took it as a compliment.

Tony Khan Aware Of AAA And WWE Announcement

Speaking at the Forbidden Door post-show media scrum, Dave Metlzer asked if he had heard about the announcement made during the pay-per-view. Khan joked that it was “quite the compliment” that 2 shows were needed to counter AEW, as opposed to the one show that was used to counter Jim Crockett Promotions.

“It’s good. It’s double the compliment Jimmy Crockett got. That’s good, twice as nice as they were to Jimmy. That’s great. I’ll be sure to take it that way. I think we’re going to have a great AEW All In and really looking forward to going back to Wembley Stadium. It’s going to be the biggest night in AEW wrestling. I can’t speak to what the other promotions are doing but I did see that announcement,” he continued. “I saw that with our own show going on tonight, so not a lot I can do other than just hope we have a really good show and plan and prepare that we will have a very good show for AEW All In.”

The first 2 matches for All In were made official at Forbidden Door. As Will Ospreay and Mercedes Mone each won their respective Owen Hart tournament finals, they will each challenge for the top titles inside Wembley Stadium.
