Stars from WWE and AEW have undergone surgery on July 9th.
During the July 8th broadcast of WWE Raw, Michael Cole made the announcement that Tyler Bate had suffered an injury in his match on the July 2nd broadcast of NXT and his tag partner Pete Dunne would be competing solo as a result. Providing an update on social media, Bate informed the fans that he had torn his left pec off the bone and required surgery, meaning that he would be gone “for a while”:
Tore my left pectoral major & tendon off the bone last week at NXT. Surgery yesterday was successful and all has been put back where it belongs. I’ll be gone for some time while I recover, try not to miss me too much. I’m in good spirits and looking forward to seeing you all again soon, lots of love, b i g s t r o n g b o i
While competing for New Japan at the Resurgence pay-per-view, Eddie Kingston landed badly on the barricade on the outside in a no ropes last man standing match against Gabe Kidd. Along with losing the match and the NJPW Strong Openweight Championship, Eddie Kingston later revealed that he had suffered a broken leg, torn ACL and meniscus. Despite the injury occurring back in May, Kingston was unable to have the knee surgery at that point as he had to wait for the tibia fracture to heal. Also providing a new update on social media, Kingston was seen in a hospital bed and confirmed that he had undergone surgery. The former AEW Continental Champion is expected to be out until around May 2025.
Another WWE Star Announced As Injured
Also on Raw, it was announced that Kofi Kingston had suffered an injury following an attack by Karrion Kross. Michael Cole noted on commentary that Kingston’s injury was an AC joint sprain in his shoulder and the former World Champion could be out for “a number of weeks.”
Features of Wrestling would like to wish Eddie Kingston, Tyler Bate and Kofi Kingston a full and speedy recovery.
